With the 11th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft

the Charlotte Bobcats select…

Gerald Henderson

Consensus here at Bobcats Baseline is that, by selecting Terrence Williams at #11, the Nets may have saved the Bobcats from making a mistake.  Though T-Will has an intriguing range of skills and is going to be a lot of fun as a personality, Henderson is a better fit.  He is an equally good defender, and has a much higher ceiling as a scorer.

Welcome to the Bobcats, Gerald.

  1. Henderson was a smart pick at 12. He'll get an opportunity to start a few games this season if Raja goes down. He's intelligent, comes from a great program, his father was a successful pro…lots to like.

Nice steal in the second round as well to nab Derrick Brown. Depending on how much they like him, Brown might negate the team attempting to re-sign Sean May later this offseason.

The best Bobcats draft since trading up to get Okafor in '04.

Nice work by Higgins, Brown & Jordan. Keep up the good work.

  2. Sounds like there are actually some real-deal Charlotte fans hitting up this site –

About Gerald Henderson, Bob commented that he's "willing to bet my 401K he busts."

That's not only a financial reference, but a anti-Duke grumbling in one sentence!

Personally, I have more faith in G-G-G-G-Gerald Henderson!

Ya'll might wanna cash in your 401K for some Playoff tickets next season.

  3. Bob

for those of u saying this is a good draft: theres not much competition this is the 5th draft and 3 out of 4 were abysmal.

  4. Bob, I agree – the Cats have been horrible at drafting, so we've kind of showered them with praise for simply not screwing it up.

Still, that's a major achievement for this team.
