Is You Crazy?!?!?

Right off the bat, let me say ‘thank you’ to the Atlanta Hawks.  Their first round series against the Celtics has been a joy to watch, reminiscent of last year’s Warriors/Mavs series.  And as an added bonus, we got to see Zaza Pachulia punk out Kevin Garnett’s posturing ass in Game 4 (from Georgia to Georgia — represent!).   But Mike Woodson’s assertion that it was a ‘travesty’ that Al Horford didn’t at least share the Rookie of the Year award with Kevin Durant is a bit over the top:

“He should have shared it, if not gotten it outright. And I don’t want to hear about us not being on TV or anything like that. It doesn’t matter. It’s what this kid has done for this team… We haven’t had a power forward/center come in our league and do what he’s done [average a double-double] in I don’t know how many years.  I mean, come on, man.”

No, you come on… man.  I won’t even get into all the reasons Horford is the clear #2 rookie behind Durant this year.   But the part about the double-double deserves a closer look.  First of all, Horford averaged 10.1 ppg and 9.7 rpg — so that’s only a double-double if you’re rounding up.  And as for “I don’t know how many years” it’s been since a rookie power forward/center did actually average a double-double?   That would be three.  ‘04-’05, Emeka Okafor: 15.1 ppg and 10.9 rpg.  Don’t even need to round up.   So Mike, I realize you’re trying to cull some favor with your players in hopes of keeping your job, but don’t do it by making borderline ridiculous assertions.  Just win, baby.

I personally would enjoy seeing Boston eliminated. I think it would be funny to see Kevin Garnett once again go nowhere in the playoffs. He has become more annoying as his career has gone on. Maybe we should have a poll on Bobcats Baseline about who is more annoying. Kevin Garnett, Sam Cassell, or Tyler Hansbrough?
