Chris Webber rates his 5.5 Greatest Hornets players of all time!
This is incredible. Old-school Charlotte NBA fans are gonna love these highlights.
Who knew C-Webb was gonna be such a great TV personality!
What about the Baseline Readers out there? Who’s your All Time Charlotte Starting 5 (plus a 6th man)???!!!
Honestly, I think Webber's was pretty spot on except for Glenn Rice. I think I'd go with Mashburn in that spot.

Right on. I'm with you. Monster Mash totally undervalued.
I'm a huge "DC for THREE" mark but I think the SG spot is up for grabs too.
Eddie Jones anybody? David Wesley for longevity?
What about Anthony Mason as 6th man (with CP3 as your starting PG)?
If it's both Bobcats and Hornets then Crash might eventually eclipse Mash and Rice if he can make an All-Star game or two (remember that Rice actually won an All-Star MVP as a Hornet as well so it'll be tough).
Greatest single player of All-Time???
Right now, as far as pure talent?

The Glen Rice pick was dead on. See the following link.
Mashburn was good, but didn't compare to Glen Rice.

Del Curry was a fan favorite, but he was more of 6th man. If I had to pick a shooting guard it would probably be Eddie Jones.

AWESOME LINK!
Thanks for posting. Now that, my friends, is "beasting it."

Also, I'm totally on board with former Hornet (and Spurs) GM Bob Bass as well. One of the most under-appreciated executives in pro-sports history.
Turned nothing into something at every turn. Hampered by a cheapskate owner and low draft choices, Bass nailed late round picks like Brad Miller, Ricky Davis, Malik Rose, Tony Delk and Jamaal Magloire. Traded for or signed Glen Rice, Eddie Jones, Matt Geiger, Mashburn, Elden Campbell, David Wesley, Bobby Phills and Anthony Mason.
Wow.
Adam,
I think the only mistake Bob Bass ever made was signing Derrick Coleman. Most every other move he made was brilliant. Bass accomplished mission impossible while working for George Shinn and later Ray Woolridge. Maybe it is a good thing these two idiot owners knew nothing about basketball. Although they kept a tight purse, they let Bass make the personnel decisions without too much interference.

I'm with you on the Coleman thing. It was a gamble and it didn't pay off. The whole Recasner/Coleman fiasco went a long way in further tarnishing the Hornets rep in CLT. Still, Bass hit way more than he missed. Did Bower apprentice under him in N.O.?

The coach for that team would basically come down to either Silas or Dave Cowens. I think Cowens was/is underrated. I don't know exactly what went on behind the scenes (beyond the contract turmoil) but I always wondered why he didn't stick as a head coach in the League. Seems to be some Rudy T. vibes goin' on there. Strange.
Adam —
I briefly thought about Cowens. He did have a nice little run there, if memory serves. So by "Rudy T. vibes" I'll assume you mean he liked the sauce. Or more appropriately (as Cowens hails from Newport, Kentucky) "the shine". Interesting theory.
I’m just going with Charlotte Hornets, so no New Orleans Hornets (sorry Chris Paul) or Charlotte Bobcats (sorry Gerald Wallace).
PG: Baron Davis
SG: Dell Curry
SF: Glen Rice
PF: Larry Johnson
C: Alonzo Mourning
6th: Jamal Mashburn
Hard to say if there would be enough shots to go around with that crew; you’d have to sell Baron on being a true pass-first PG. And I’d be relying heavily on Alonzo to protect the rim, as neither Curry or Rice are going to do much to stop opposing wings from penetrating. But still, that’s a killer lineup. Give me Silas as coach, while we’re at it…
Whoa!
I wasn’t insinuating that he was Tollbooth Willy or anything.
Just remarking on how he just kind of disappeared all of a sudden.
“Hornets Hardball” was a fun era and almost made us forget about losing LJ and Zo.
How do you guys like that sweet new header addition, btw??? Thanks to M15 for the assist (didn’t wanna get choked up seeing Okafor anyways).
DJ (in all seriousness) might “beast it” this year if he stays healthy. I could totally see him going for at least 16 and 8 this season. Wait, does that even qualify for “beasting it?” I’m confused…
No mention of Tripucka?
Some epic Hornets pics here:

I’m forever grateful for the montage above. Especially since it features my first “favorite player,” Armon Gilliam. Dude was a black hole but could get it done in the low post like nobody’s business. Could definitely use a guy like that on the Bobcats today.
And what about Stacey King? Loved the fact that he commented on WGN this past season:
“Alexis Ajinca, that dude needs to eat or somethin’.”
I’ll go with Silas as “the greatest” Hornets coach.
